Job Description

The Bar & Terrace Lounge Manager at Corinthia Brussels is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Bar and Terrace Lounge, ensuring exceptional service, and creating a memorable guest experience. We are looking for a leader who can manage a team, maintain high standards of quality and service, and drive business performance.


  • Stay updated on the latest trends and innovations in the hospitality industry.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability through waste control and efficient use of utilities and resources.
  • Anticipate potential opportunities and challenges in managing the Bar & Terrace Lounge.
  • Ensure the department is adequately staffed, creating and managing duty rosters, including coverage for holidays, sickness, and absenteeism.
  • Interview prospective staff and coordinate with the Human Resources Manager and F&B Director.
  • Implement and maintain the concept and image of the Bar & Terrace Lounge.
  • Ensure good planning and necessary equipment for smooth, trouble-free service.
  • Exercise strict control over wages, staff costs, and public holidays.
  • Maintain effective communication within the department and keep the F&B Director informed of any issues.
  • Report any problems or complaints to the F&B Director.
  • Attend department training sessions and meetings as required.
  • Conduct daily pre-service meetings to share pertinent information.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure good communication and support.
  • Work closely with the F&B Director and Executive Chef to discuss daily business progress.
  • Inform team members of Special Attention Guests/VIPs and coordinate with the F&B Director.
  • Deal with guest inquiries via mail, email, and fax, and action all information, menu, and brochure requests.
  • Participate in the planning and development of future events in the Bar & Terrace Lounge and the hotel.
  • Drive the Corinthia values and philosophy throughout the department.
  • Handle disciplinary and grievance issues in conjunction with the F&B Director and Human Resources Manager.
  • Ensure all guest orders are prepared and served to the agreed standards.
  • Ensure courtesy to guests at all times and maintain the hotel’s reputation.
  • Maintain knowledge of the menu and advise clients accordingly.
  • Ensure all Mise-en-Place and preparations for orders are completed for smooth, efficient service.
  • Ensure new employees receive proper induction into the department
  • Ensure careful handling of all operating equipment and minimize breakage.
  • Maintain the Bar & Terrace Lounge and its contents in a clean state and in good repair.
  • Upsell and maximize sales revenue whenever possible.
  • Conduct regular checks on beverage stock and non-food items.
  • Handle all end-of-day procedures, guest settlements, voids, discounts, adjustments, and corrections within the assigned authority level.

Skills Required

Candidate Profile


  • Worked in similar work environment.
  • Previous Food & Beverage experience.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Fluent in English & French or Dutch
  • Knowledge of wines, spirits, and food
  • Familiarity with P.O.S. systems, including micros
  • Health & safety and COSHH knowledge
  • Proficient in Outlook and Office
  • Strong leadership and training skills
