The Technicien position at Holiday Inn Brussels Airport is responsible for the development, implementation and management of emergency programs for the operation and maintenance of all physical equipment, structures and landscaping in accordance with company/franchise standards, local, state and national codes and regulations to protect property, customers and employees, ensure optimal operations, minimize expenses and maximize customer satisfaction.
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the short and long term planning and day-to-day operations of the Engineering Division. He recommends the budget and capital expenditures for the department and manages expenditures within the approved budget.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Provide advice to senior management on all aspects of technical support, environmental controls and operational efficiency of the property.
Ensure effective financial management of the engineering department by establishing maintenance budgets.
Plan, implement and administer an energy management programme.
Assess, monitor and record energy consumption and implement and improve energy conservation systems.
Contribute to customer satisfaction standards by ensuring that technical support services respond quickly to individual needs and, where possible, anticipate them.
Ensure compliance with all legal regulations and fire codes by regularly reviewing safety policies and procedures.
Maintain the condition of the hotel’s physical assets by carrying out all improvement and project work in liaison with architects, interior designers and management.
Ensure the proper functioning of all mechanical and electrical systems and equipment by implementing and managing a preventive maintenance program.
Ensure that preventive maintenance programmes are in place and regularly updated.
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with contracts, leases, service agreements and guarantees.
Ensure that the quality of all work carried out by employees and external contracted personnel is in accordance with good engineering practice standards.
Responsible for the H&S Committee (CPPT/CPBW), and empowered to provide all necessary recommendations to the GM regarding prevention at work, safety at work and welfare at work.
Responsible for coordination with contractors for renovations, remodeling and new construction.

Review and update existing standards to ensure competitiveness

Preparing, managing and implementing the departmental budget.
Business Planning
Contribute to the overall corporate strategic plan and participate in the development of the hotel’s annual business plan.
Keep abreast of trends in your industry and implement best practice initiatives.
Assist in the preparation of project reports and budget estimates whenever necessary.
Personnel management
Organise personnel management in your own department: recruitment, training, etc.
Health, safety and security
Become familiar with the company’s health and safety policies and ensure that your areas promote and comply with them.
Become familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and actively enforce them in your area of responsibility.
