Opened since May 2025, The Standard, Brussels marks the hotel brand’s third outpost in Europe. Set in the city’s Northern Quarter, The Standard, Brussels brings the brand’s design, culture and activation-driven philosophy to Belgium.

With 180 guestrooms (plus 20 residences), the modern, new-build project features many stages for The Standard’s renowned day- and nightlife. A ground-floor greenhouse welcomes guests and locals into the lobby lounge, restaurant, and terrace. Upstairs, The Rooftop features its own restaurant, bar and garden—set to become a neighbourhood destination. Throughout the building, additional public and private event spaces are platforms for happenings.

Skills Required

Your role

As an Assistant F&B Director, you will be working hand in hand with our F&B Director and will play a central role in overseeing the day-to-day running of the Food & Beverage department, ensuring that service quality, operational standards, and customer satisfaction are consistently met. You will be responsible for monitoring daily activities, team schedules, and the overall quality of what is served, ensuring alignment with budget targets and the specific details outlined in Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). You will ensure that all services are delivered according to established standards and client expectations, proactively identifying guest needs and addressing any issues that may arise.

In this role, you will lead and support a dynamic team, participating in recruitment, training, and regular team meetings. You will provide timely feedback, conduct annual performance evaluations, and help create a collaborative and motivating work environment where versatility and mutual support are encouraged. You will also be responsible for defining clear team objectives, schedules, and operational procedures, while promoting open communication and efficient coordination across departments.

Working closely with the Executive Chef, F&B Director, Beverage Manager, and Restaurant Managers, you will ensure strict compliance with hygiene and cleanliness protocols, particularly with HACCP standards. You will also be expected to monitor key productivity indicators—such as payroll, food cost, and beverage cost—and identify opportunities for operational improvement. In the absence of the F&B Director, you will represent the department in service meetings and support high-level decision-making.

Additionally, you will prepare regular management, financial, and variance reports, while taking a proactive approach to resolving operational, financial, and employee-related challenges. Ensuring a seamless guest experience, you will handle customer feedback and complaints with professionalism and efficiency to uphold the highest standards of service.

This is not a ‘Standard’ Assistant F&B Director position so you will need to have miles and miles of personality and stamina, be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and can handle pressure well; thrive in a high-volume, high-energy environment and able to work equally well both independently and as part of a team.

Candidate Profile

Do you have what it takes to be our Assistant F&B Director at The Standard, Brussels?

A minimum of 3+ years as a Restaurant Manager, Assistant F&B Manager, Assistant F&B Director, etc gained within a similar Lifestyle Hotel or large 4- or 5-star Hotel in Brussels or the Benelux region is essential for this role

In addition to this, the ideal candidate will also…

• Have a solid understanding and detailed knowledge of the Brussels Hotel market along with F&B practices and management trends.
• Be a confident and proactive self-starter ideally with strong project management skills.
• Have prior experience of management a team and assisting a F&B director/manager.
• Be flexible on the hours and ready to be hands on.
• Experience of producing a range of monthly revenue reports for both Corporate Office & Private Ownership.
• Experience working with the following systems: shiji, Opera, etc
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong Administration and Excel skills
• Fluency in French and/or Dutch in addition to English is preferred for this role
